Limopsis vaginata Dall, 1891

(Fig. 2 U, V)

Limopsis vaginata Dall, 1891: 190 .

Material examined: 12 specimens from the ocean and sea slopes of Paramushir, Onekotan, and Iturup Islands and from the Fourth Kuril Strait (400– 1,060 m) .

Distribution: Kuril Islands, Fourth Kuril Strait; Bering Sea; Commander Islands; Aleutian Islands; Pribilof Islands and Bowers Bank, Alaska; (144– 3,357 m) (Scarlato 1981; Coan, Valentich-Scott & Bernard 2000; Kantor & Sysoev 2005).

Remarks: This is a new record from the region of the Kuril Islands. This species was previously assumed to be endemic to the Bering Sea (Scarlato 1981) . The finding of Limopsis vaginata Dall, 1891, off the Kuril Islands significantly extends its range southward along the Kuril Islands to Iturup.
