Diagnosis. Adult (Fig. 3) with wingspan 9.0−20.0 mm. This species is similar to C. oblonga Liu & Ge in genital structures, but C. contumescens can be distinguished by the median fascia of the forewing having a short grayish black stripe extending from the middle of the outer margin to above the tornus; the costal arm of the valva obliquely truncated at the apex, and the cornuti consisting of three thick spines about 1/2 the length of the phallus in the male genitalia (Fig. 13). In C. oblonga, the median fascia has no stripe arising from the outer margin; the costal arm of the valva is bluntly rounded at the apex, and the cornuti are composed of 1−3 thin spines that are about 1/ 3 length of the phallus in the male genitalia. This species is also similar to C. altivaga Diakonoff, 1976, and the differences between them are noted under the discussion of C. altivaga .

Distribution. China (Anhui, Guangxi, Henan, Tianjin), Korea, Japan, Russia.

Note. This species is recorded for the first time from China.
