Barygenys maculata Menzies & Tyler 1977: 447 .

Holotype: UPNG 5090, ca 3km NW of Agaun, 1500m, Milne Bay Province, PNG (J.I. Menzies, 11.xi.1974).

Paratypes: UPNG 5091-5107, within 1km of the type locality.

Remarks: Type series consists of 21 specimens; other paratypes in AMNH, BMNH, SAMA. Paratype 5103 was sent to MZB on 28.viii.1989, although it was not listed among the types in that collection by Iskandar and Mumpuni (2003). Description gave the date for the type series as 8.xi.1974. UPNG 5108-09 are topotypic and conspecific, and are identified as paratypes in the register; their exclusion from the published type series is possibly accidental. Holotype and remaining paratypes in good condition.
