The genus Bengalia has been characterised by several authors, including Bezzi (1911, 1913), Surcouf (1920), Malloch (1927), Senior-White et al. (1940), Zumpt (1956), and Lehrer (2005, as Bengaliidae), and its defining character states need not be repeated here.
