Lathrolestes tripunctor species group

Diagnosis. Medium or large sized. Occipital carina complete dorsally. Propodeum with carinae more or less complete (Figs 5, 11, 15, 23, 27, 32, 36, 39). Face and mesopleuron roughly or distinctly punctate (Figs 3, 12, 16, 24, 26, 31, 35, 38). Head not narrowed behind eyes, with elongate, parallel temples. Tentorial foveae not large. Malar space usually elongate. Lower mandible tooth longer than upper. Notaulus usually shallow or defined basally. Claws elongate, pectinate with hair-like teeth (Figs 30, 34, 37, 41, 50). Fore wing with areolet. 2m-cu Second recurrent vein with single bulla. Hind wing with nervellus intercepted below middle. Nervulus interstitial. Metasoma distinctly punctate. Ovipositor stout (Figs 46–48).

Distribution. This species-group is only found in the Western Palearctic and Central Asia, typically in mountain or steppe habitats. Members of the tripunctor species group are rather scarce, except for L. orbitalis (Gravenhorst, 1829) .
