Lathrolestes erythrocephalus (Gravenhorst, 1829)

Figs 31–34.

Tryphon erythrocephalus Gravenhorst, 1829; Polyoncus erythrocephalus [Roman, 1912];

Lathrolestes erythrocephalus [Aubert, 2000]; Perilissus erythrocephalus [Horstmann, 2001].

Diagnosis. This species differs from other members of the genus by its brownish tegulae, from the closely related L. obliquus it differs by the orange, swollen head (Fig. 31, 33), vein 2 m-cu intercepting the areolet at its middle, and the strongly impressed occiput.

Comments. This species has been placed in the genus Perilissus recently (Horstmann, 2001) but previously Aubert (2000) was correct in placing this species in the genus Lathrolestes . The character state of the occipital carina not reaching the hypostomal carina means that this species belongs in Lathrolestes .
