Current name: Rhaponticum scariosum Lam. subsp. rhaponticum (L.) Greuter ( Asteraceae).

Note: Greuter (in Greuter & Raab-Straube in Willdenowia 35: 237-238. 2005) discusses both the name and the form of the specific epithet.
