Current name: Silene italica (L.) Pers. subsp. italica ( Caryophyllaceae).

Note: Greuter (in Willdenowia 25: 109. 1995) states that the designated lectotype does not fit the current application of S. italica L. subsp. italica, and that a proposal for a conserved type will be necessary. However, no formal proposal has yet been published.
