Current name: Carthamus arborescens L. ( Asteraceae).

Note: Hanelt (in Feddes Repert. 67: 66. 1963) indicated Herb. Linn. 973.8 (LINN) as the holotype but the sheet lacks a Species Plantarum number (i.e. “6”), was a post-1753 addition to the herbarium and is not original material for the name. Hanelt subsequently designated van Royen material as lectotype, retaining 973.8 (LINN) as an epitype.
