Lectotype (Fawcett & Rendle, Fl. Jamaica 3: 228. 1914; Du Puy & Telford in George & al., Fl. Australia 50: 169. 1998): Herb. Hermann 3: 2, No. 241 (BM-000621795) .

Current name: Cleome viscosa L. ( Capparaceae).

Note: Fawcett & Rendle indicated Herb. Hermann material (BM) as type. Although there is material in two volumes, it appears to have been part of a single gathering. Consequently, theirs is accepted as the first typification (Art. 9.15), with the choice subsequently restricted by Du Puy & Telford. The material (850.11, LINN) treated as the type by Iltis (in Brittonia 12: 283. 1960) is evidently a post-1753 collection and is not original material for the name.
