Clibadium surinamense Linnaeus, Mantissa Plantarum Altera: 294. 1771.

"Habitat Surinami." RCN: 7164.

Neotype (Hind in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 35. 1993): Surinam. Hostmann 647 (K).

Generitype of Clibadium Linnaeus.

Current name: Clibadium surinamense L. ( Asteraceae).

Note: Howard (Fl. Lesser Antilles 6: 537. 1989) stated "Type: Surinam, Allemand s.n.", and it is clear from Linnaeus’ protologue that he based this on the account of " Clibadium foetidum " in a manuscript that he received from Allemand, and which is preserved at LINN. However, no material from Allemand appears to have been preserved, and Hind therefore chose a neotype from Surinam.
