Current name: Nopalea cochenillifera (L.) Salm-Dyck ( Cactaceae).

Note: Benson (Cacti U.S. Canada: 932. 1982) designated a neotype but this is contrary to Art. 9.11 as original material is in existence. See Crook & Mottram (in Bradleya 14: 111. 1996) who noted the original elements, and reproduced the type in colour (their f. 18, p. 127).
