Cardamine chelidonia Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 655. 1753.
"Habitat in Sibiria, Italia." RCN: 4769.
Type not designated.
Original material: Herb. Linn. No. 270.7 (S); Herb. Linn. No. 835.8 (LINN); [icon] in Barrelier, Pl. Galliam: 44, t. 156. 1714; [icon] in Hermann, Parad. Bat.: 203. 1698.
Current name: Cardamine chelidonia L. ( Brassicaceae).
Note: See extensive discussion by Marhold (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 121: 116-118. 1996), who concludes that the Barrelier plate is the only element corresponding broadly with the use of the name. However, the illustration lacks auriculate petiole bases, and Marhold stated that he intended to propose the name for conservation with a conserved type. However, no formal proposal yet appears to have been made.
