Chelone obliqua Linnaeus, Systema Naturae, ed. 12, 2: 408. 1767.
RCN: 4420.
Lectotype (designated here by Sutton): [icon] " Chelone foliis ovatolanceolatis serratis floribus rubris " in Miller, Fig. Pl. Gard. Dict. 1: 62, t. 93. 1756.
Current name: Chelone obliqua L. ( Scrophulariaceae).
Note: Pennell (in Monogr. Acad. Nat. Sci. Philadelphia 1: 182. 1935) says this is "based primarily upon a plant described in Miller’s gardeners’ Dictionary, the type of which has been seen in Herb. British Museum (Natural History) at London". However, this material was not seen by Linnaeus and is not original material for the name.
