Crinum asiaticum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 292. 1753.

"Habitat in Malabaria, Zeylona." RCN: 2326.

Lectotype (Verdoorn in Killick, Fl. Pl. Africa 47: t. 1875. 1983): [icon] " Lilium Zeylanicum umbelliferum et bulbiferum" in Hermann, Hort. Lugd.-Bat. Cat.: 682, 683. 1687.

Current name: Crinum asiaticum L. ( Liliaceae / Amaryllidaceae).

Note: Although Sealy (in Curtis’s Bot. Mag. 177: t. 528. 1969) noted the contrasting identities of the cited Hermann and Rheede entities, he did not typify the name. Howard (in J. Arnold. Arbor. 60: 291. 1979) wrongly treated a plate (t. 1073) in Curtis’s Bot. Mag. as the lectotype; it is not original material for the name.
