Cardamine africana Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 655. 1753.
"Habitat in Africa." RCN: 4768.
Lectotype (Marais in Codd & al., Fl. Southern Africa 13: 100. 1970): [icon] " Nasturtium foliis ternis facie Christophorianae " in Hermann, Parad. Bat.: 202. 1698. - Typotype: Herb. Sherard No. 746 (OXF) .
Current name: Cardamine africana L. ( Brassicaceae).
Note: See an extremely detailed review by Marhold (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 121: 111. 1996), who attributes the typification to Sjöstedt (in Bot. Not. 128: 9, 28. 1975), who also discusses Sherard material in OXF. However, Marais appears to have made a still earlier choice of type in 1970.
