Cassia procumbens Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 380. 1753.

"Habitat in Indiis." RCN: 2987.

Lectotype (Reveal in Taxon 41: 136. 1992): Kalm, Herb. Linn. No. 528.34 (LINN) .

Current name: Chamaecrista procumbens (L.) Greene ( Fabaceae: Caesalpinioideae).

Note: The type belongs to the taxon treated by Reveal as Chamaecrista nictitans Moench. He therefore (in Taxon 41: 136. 1992) proposed the Linnaean name for rejection, also providing a detailed historical review. However, the Committee for Spermatophyta (in Taxon 43: 277. 1994) voted heavily against the proposal under the Berlin Code but agreed that the case should be reconsidered under the Tokyo Code. The Committee subsequently (in Taxon 54: 1093. 2005) did not recommend the name for rejection.
