Current name: Vaucheria dichotoma (L.) Mart. ( Vaucheriaceae).

Note: See Christensen (in Brit. Phycol. Bull. 3: 465. 1968), who discussed Dillenius’ description, figures and voucher material in OXF (the latter reproduced as f. 5, 6), stating (p. 463) that the Dillenian material was the type. This, however, was not seen by Linnaeus and is not original material for the name. Christensen (in Brit. Phycol. J. 21: 275. 1986) subsequently treated Linnaeus’ description as the type but this is contrary to Art. 8.1.
