Chalcas paniculata Linnaeus, Systema Naturae, ed. 12, 2: 293; Mantissa Plantarum: 68. 1767.

"Habitat in India, ubi colitur in hortis ob flores fragantissimos." RCN: 3021.

Lectotype (Nair in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 32. 1993): [icon] " Camunium " in Rumphius, Herb. Amboin. 5: 26, t. 17. 1747.

Generitype of Chalcas Linnaeus.

Current name: Murraya paniculata (L.) Jack ( Rutaceae).

Note: Tanaka (in J. Bot. 68: 229. 1930) referred to what is presumably 539.2 (LINN) as a "Suppl. Type", later (in Meded. Rijks-Herb. 69: 7. 1931) indicating unspecified material (which sheet is intended is unclear) in LINN as type. Other authors (e.g. Porter & Elias in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 66: 144. 1979; Stone in Dassanayake & Fosberg, Revised Handb. Fl. Ceylon 5: 459. 1985; Smith, Fl. Vitiensis Nova 3: 513. 1985) give similar statements, all of which are too imprecise to effect formal typification.
