Note: López González (in Bol. Soc. Brot., sér . 2, 53: 299-308. 1980) pointed out that the Alströmer specimen (221.63, LINN) conflicts fundamentally with Linnaeus’ description, and concluded that the name is best regarded as a nomen ambiguum. He informally rejected the name, taking up C. velutina Desf. instead.
