Coreopsis leucanthema Linnaeus, Centuria I Plantarum: 29. 1755.
"Habitat in America. Miller." RCN: 6558.
Lectotype (Ballard in Amer. J. Bot. 73: 1464. 1986): Herb. Linn. No. 1026.5 (LINN; iso- BM) .
Current name: Bidens pilosa L. var radiata Sch. Bip. ( Asteraceae).
Note: Sherff (in Publ. Field Mus. Nat. Hist., Bot. Ser. 16: 437. 1937) discussed the name, noting material in LINN and that Linnaeus had in mind a plant from Philip Miller "perhaps the same specimen that is left today in the Linnaean Herbarium". However, he did not refer to it as the type. Ballard typified the name using this material, and Reveal (in Jarvis & Turland in Taxon 47: 359. 1998) noted a duplicate in BM.
