Hapalosoma pulchrum (Rowe 1989)

Material examined — Norfolk Island: 1 specimen (67 mm TD), 29° 54.9' S, 167° 44.8' E, 130–301 m, AM J21699, dry (Holotype).

Remarks —No further examples of this distinctive species have been found since the type specimen was collected in 1977. This specimen is now quite fragile and so only a cursory examination was able to be made. However, it may be useful to add to the description of Rowe (1989) that the hoofs on the oral primary spines are quite narrow (narrower than the adjacent section of spine) and only very slightly flared, and the triphyllous pedicellariae are distinctly narrow and elongate.
