Genus Dipodomys Gray 1841 (19 species with 107 subspecies)

Genus Microdipodops Merriam 1891 (2 species with 18 subspecies)

Discussion: Wood (1935) allocated only the Recent genus Dipodomys to the subfamily; Hafner and Hafner (1983; see also Hafner, 1982) included Microdipodops, as did Wahlert (1985, 1993), Ryan (1989 a), and Williams et al. (1993).
