Distribution. Nearctic. Canada: NB, NS, ON, QC. USA: ME (NSR), NH (NSR), PA.

Collection and Habitat data. The NH specimens were mainly captured in old-growth forests using flight intercept traps; also taken by pitfall and Malaise traps as well as found on the side of a water tower. Collected from October through the winter and spring to May. This forest species is found in Canada in association with decaying organic matter; in NB many were collected from among decaying vegetables (compost) either within or adjacent to a commercially available plastic compost bin near a mixed forest; others were found in moist leaves under sap flows from recently cut or wounded trees, decaying mushrooms, and moose dung in mixed forests (Webster et al. 2009). In NS collected from dead pigs, a decaying gilled fungus, on a decaying Ganoderma shelf-fungus, in a pitfall trap, and in leaf litter at entrance of a cave (Majka et al. 2006). Reported from caves (Klimaszewski and Peck 1986), and this species may be a cave specialist (Klimaszewski and Pelletier 2004). However, occurrence in caves may be incidental as there are no apparent adaptations for cave life.
