Sasajiscymnus acutus Tong & Wang sp. nov.

Chinese name: 尖叶ḧ瓢•

Diagnosis. This species closely resembles S. anmashanus (Yang, 1971), but can be distinguished from the later by the apically pointed penis guide in ventral view, and yellowish brown antennae and maxillary palpi (Figs 5c, 5h). In S. anmashanus, penis guide is apically rounded in ventral view, antennae and maxillary palpi are black (Figs 6c, 6h).

Description. TL: 1.46–2.09 mm, TW: 1.06–1.46 mm, TH: 0.65–0.78 mm.

Body oval, moderately convex, surfaces covered with short pubescence (Figs 5a–c). Body uniformly black, except antennae, maxillary palpi and tarsi yellowish brown. Interocular distance slightly greater than eye width in frontal view. Dorsal pubescence forming distinct wavy patterns on elytra. Abdominal postcoxal lines incomplete, recurved toward the base of ventrite (Fig. 5d).

Male genitalia: Penis slender, penis capsule with short outer arm and long inner one, apex of penis pointed (Figs 5e–f). Penis guide triangular in lateral view with pointed apex; parameres about 1/2 as long as penis guide, with a tuft of long setae at apex; penis guide widest at base in ventral view, tapering towards pointed apex (Figs 5g –h).

Female genitalia: Coxites triangular; styli strongly reduced and hardly visible; spermatheca worm-like, with basal ramus and nodulus (Figs 3d, 3h).

Distribution. China (Fujian, Yunnan).

Etymology. The specific epithet acutus derives from the Latin word “acutus” and refers to the apically pointed penis guide.
