Taxonomic history. Morley (1913b) transferred P. basalis to Cardiochiles Nees von Esenbeck, 1819; van Achterberg and Desmier de Chenon (2009) subsequently to Snellenius Westwood, 1882 and synonymised S. theretrae (Watanabe, 1937) with it. However, Long and van Achterberg (2013) removed S. theretrae from synonymy.

Current taxonomy. Snellenius basalis (Walker, 1874) ( Braconidae: Microgastrinae: Microplitini).

Type status. Holotype.

Condition. Rather good; right antenna broken at 14th flagellomere, left antenna at 13th flagellomere; right fore tarsus glued to card; left fore leg missing after trochanter.
