Current status: Unavailable name and synonym of Hiperantha (Hyperanthoides) decorata (Gory, 1841) (Bellamy, 2008) .

Comments: Hoscheck in Hoscheck & Théry (1928:152) stated clearly that the “type” (singular) was in the British Museum (NHMUK) and came from “ Rio de Janeiro (Coll. Fry)”; additional specimens in NHMUK came from the following locations: one specimen from “Minas Geraes (durch OBERTHÜR)”, and two specimens from “ Brasilien ”. We recognized the specimen examined as holotype of Hiperantha decorata var. insignata Hoscheck in Hoscheck & Théry, 1928 since it matches the original description and the information on the label matches that cited for the “type” specimen.
