Etymology. The specific epithet is honor of Dr. Fred R. Wanless (1940–2017), the British arachnologist who made great contributions on the taxonomy of Salticidae .
Diagnosis. The new species resembles C. minotaurus sp. nov. in the similar shape of median septum and the bulging spermathecae, but can be distinguished from the latter by the presence of CPSB on the cephalon (Fig. 177), the short embolus coiled half a circle (Figs 184, 187), the less coiled copulatory ducts, and the sub-spherical spermathecae (Figs 191, 193).
Description. Male. Habitus as shown in Fig. 176. Carapace length 1.42; abdomen length 1.10. Measurements of eyes: AME 0.32, ALE 0.20, PME 0.07, PLE 0.18. Measurements of legs: I 2.36 (0.74, 0.38, 0.59, 0.36, 0.29), II 2.01 (0.63, 0.32, 0.43, 0.33, 0.30), III 1.93 (0.60, 0.20, 0.36, 0.44, 0.33), IV 1.97 (0.54, 0.22, 0.39, 0.50, 0.32). Chelicerae with fang-like projection distally (Fig. 181); promargin with two teeth, retromargin with one bicuspid tooth. Palp (Figs 183–188): embolus short, coiled half a circle; embolic disc small and sclerotized; LED narrow, not serrulate-edged; tegulum slightly sclerotized, tegular lobe present; retrolateral tibial apophysis wide at base and pointed apically in retrolateral view, tip slightly inner-curved in ventral view. Sternum without setal tuft. Color in alcohol (Fig. 176): carapace reddish brown, with CPSB; dorsal abdomen pale yellow, with dark crux-shaped markings, not obviously sclerotized; ventral abdomen grayish brown; legs I–II darker than legs III–IV.
Female. Habitus as shown in Figs 177–178. Carapace length 1.57; abdomen length 1.22. Measurements of eyes: AME 0.31, ALE 0.20, PME 0.04, PLE 0.18. Measurements of legs: I 1.97 (0.83, 0.49, 0.60, 0.41, 0.24), II 2.13 (0.68, 0.36, 0.45, 0.36, 0.28), III 2.25 (0.76, 0.36, 0.42, 0.42, 0.29), IV 2.36 (0.73, 0.29, 0.52, 0.48, 0.34). Chelicerae (Fig. 182) as in male but without fang-like projection. Color in alcohol (Figs 177–178): carapace and dorsal abdomen as in male, ventral abdomen pale yellow. Sternum as in male. Epigynum (Figs 189–190, 192): window relatively small, rims weakly present, median septum wide; lateral depressions shallow and not obvious. Vulva (Figs 191, 193): CD relatively short, swerving for three times; AG large and mitriform; spermathecae bulbous.
