Many-ridged Grass Frog (Fig. 30; Map 27)

Material (3 specimens): PEM A12696, INBAC: WC-5185, Chicala Choloanga roadside quarry, -12.63611° 16.04282°, 1,858 m asl; PEM A12689, Cubango River launch site, -12.61700° 16.22133°, 1,727 m asl. Description: Medium sized Ptychadena; narrow body; ridges present on thigh; two and a half phalanges of the longest toe free of webbing. Dorsum light brown, with darker brown blotches; back of thighs with pale stripes; yellow infusion in groin. Only adult male measured 36.2 mm (PEM A12689). Habitat and natural history notes: This species was only encountered along the Cubango River in flooded grassland. Comments: The identification was based on the key provided by Poynton and Broadley (1985b) and needs genetic verification .
