Helicometra pisodonophi Ha, 2012

Synonyms: Hamacreadium gymnomuraenae Shen & Li, 2000 n . syn.

Records. From the tiger reef-eel, Scuticaria tigrina (Lesson) ( Anguilliformes: Muraenidae) [as Gymnomuraena tigrina (Lesson)] in the South China Sea by Shen & Li (2000) as H. gymnomuraenae . From the longfin snake-eel, Pisodonophis cancrivorus (Richardson) ( Anguilliformes: Ophichthidae) in the South China Sea by Ha (2012).

Remarks. This species is inconsistent with Hamacreadium because the genital pore is medial, the testes tandem, the cirrus-sac is long, thin and completely anterior to the ventral sucker, and there is no evidence that the excretory vesicle extends into the forebody. The eggs have a short polar filament, consistent with species of Helicometra . Of the species of Helicometra reported from anguilliforms (see Blend & Dronen 2015), the species described by Shen & Li (2000) resembles Helicometra kyliotrema Pritchard, 1966 and H. pisodonophi, and it is synonymised here with the latter because it was described from the same region, whereas the former is from off Hawaii (Pritchard 1966b).
