Cainocreadium pteroisi (Nagaty & Abdel Aal, 1962) Durio & Manter, 1968
Synonyms: Hamacreadium pteroisi Nagaty & Abdel Aal, 1962 .
Records. From the red lionfish, Pterois volitans (Linnaeus) ( Scorpaeniformes: Scorpaenidae), in the Red Sea by Nagaty & Abdel Aal (1962c).
Remarks. This species was described based on one mature specimen. It has a medial genital pore, for which it was transferred to Cainocreadium by Durio & Manter (1968). This combination has been recognised by subsequent authors (Saoud et al. 1986; Bray & Cribb 1989; Bray 1990), but this species should also be compared with those of Helicometra Odhner, 1902, for which scorpaenids, and indeed scorpaeniforms generally, are an important host group (Blend & Dronen 2015). Nagaty & Abdel Aal (1962c) did not identify egg filaments, but did depict a neatly coiled uterus and illustrated the eggs in a style different from that of their other illustrations.
