Ophion luteus (Linnaeus, 1758) [doubtful distribution]
Ruiz (1937) mentions the species Ophion luteus (Linnaeus, 1758) for Región de Coquimbo, Chile. However, Broad et al. (2015) stated that many Ophion in collections (and online images) are misidentified as O. luteus, give its general testaceus coloration shared by different Ophion species. For this reason, Ophion luteus is potentially used as a catch-all name. Based on this, Yu et al. (2016) considered doubtful the occurrence of this species in Chile, Jamaica, Mexico, and Uruguay.
