Comments. Spinola (1851: 479–480) described Ichneumon unicinctus from Coquimbo (Chile), which has been recognized as primary homonym of Ichneumon unicinctus Brullé, 1846 by Dalla Torre (1902: 1009) and replaced by Ichneumon unicinctatus Dalla Torre, 1902 .

Spinola (1851) does not report any location for the original type series, but Townes & Townes (1966) report it from Coquimbo possibly based on label data.
