Apetasimus atratus (Scott) comb. nov.

Diagnosis

Similar to A. sordidus, being strongly transverse and dark. Black, brick red areas on elytra limited to base, antennae and legs brick red to dark brown. Differs from A. sordidus in male anal sclerite with lateral apical margin straight and convergent, apex truncate (Fig. 7 L), pygidium slightly narrower than base of anal sclerite, truncate to shallowly emarginate. Length 4.5–5.6mm, Width 1.8–2.3mm.

Lectotype ɗ, glued to card, card labeled: " Orthostolus atratus, ɗ Haleakala, Maui, 5,000 ft., IV–1894, Perkins, Type H.S." underside of card labeled "116". [collection notes: "116, All under bark, above 5,000 ft." (Perkins 1892–1897)] (BMNH).
