Genus Prunasis Stål, 1862a new record

Cicada (Prunasis) Stål 1862a: 22 .

Type species. Cicada viridula Walker 1850: 168 . (Unknown locality)

REMARKS. The genus was originally distinguished by the four apical cells of the hind wings (Stål 1862a). This is still a useful character to distinguish members of the genus and is an unique character in the Peruvian cicada fauna.

DISTRIBUTION. The genus has been reported previously only from Brazil (Metcalf 1963c).
