Carineta cearana Distant 1906b: 153 . (Ceará, Brazil)
REMARKS. Another of the Peruvian Carineta species with infuscation in the fore wing. Infuscation is present on the distal fore wing cubital cell, fore wing clavus, and the distal apical cell 3, distal anal cell 1 and wing margin of the hind wing in C. cearana, but is present on the apical cells of both fore wings and hind wings along with distal anal cell 3 of the hind wing in C. boliviana, as a central fuscous spot near the distal radial cell of the hind wing along with a marginal series of linear spots in the fore wings of C. centralis, and is found in proximal wing cells at the wing bases of both the fore wing and hind wing that extend from the distal hind wing anal cell 3 through anal cell 1 in C. illustris . The differences between C. cearana and C. illustris were described and illustrated by Sanborn (2016b).
DISTRIBUTION. The species has been reported previously from Brazil and French Guiana (Metcalf 1963c; Sanborn 2016b) with the range recently expanded to include Bolivia (Sanborn 2019b).
