Tympanoterpes virgulata Sanborn 2019b: 21 . (3.7 km SSE Buena Vista, Hotel Flora & Fauna, 430m, Santa Cruz, Bolivia)
REMARKS. The specimens from Peru in the type series represented the first record of the genus in Peru (Sanborn 2019b). The generic characters will separate the species from the other Peruvian cicadas. Tympanoterpes virgulata can also be recognized by the abdominal segments 3 and 4 being wider than the mesothorax and the transverse piceous fasciae on the anterodorsal abdominal tergites.
DISTRIBUTION. The species has been reported from Bolivia and Peru (Sanborn 2019b).
