Carineta peruviana Distant, 1905c
Carineta peruviana Distant 1905c: 486 . (Chanchamayo, Peru)
REMARKS. Jacobi (1907) corrected Distant’s (1905c) “Chandramayo” to Chanchamayo so that Chanchamayo should be considered the type locality. The first of three heavily pilose species marked with piceous with hyaline wings. The piceous abdomen quickly distinguishes C. pilosa from C. peruviana . Carineta titschacki can be distinguished by the piceous markings on the mesonotum between the anterior arms of the cruciform elevation and anterior to the cruciform elevation and lack of linear infuscation within the apical cells of the fore wings in that species.
DISTRIBUTION. The species has been reported only from Peru (Metcalf 1963c). Jacobi (1907; 1951) reported the species from Chanchamayo and corrected Distant’s (1905c) record to the same locality.
