Type Locality: "die höchsten felsigten Gebirge Abyssiniens … in den Provinzen Simen und Godjam"; restricted to Ethiopia, mountains of Simien (Lydekker, 1913:156).

Vernacular Names: Walia.

Distribution: N Ethiopia.

Conservation: U.S. ESA – Endangered; IUCN – Critically Endangered.

Discussion: Treated as a species distinct from C. ibex by Ansell (1972:70) and Yalden et al. (1984).
