Discussion: A recently discovered monotypic genus (Dung et al. 1993, 1994; Shaller and Rabinowitz, 1995), possibly a member of the Caprinae (Thomas, 1994) but more probably a member of the Bovinae (Dung et al., 1993; Robichaud 1998). Recent studies place it in the Bovini as a subtribe Pseudorygina Hassanin and Douzery (1999 b) .
