Type:— COSTA RICA. [Cartago:] Turrialba [“Turialba”], November 1909, A. Brade & A.C. Brade 1186 (B destroyed). Neotype (designated here):— COSTA RICA: San Ramon, Barranca River, s.d., A.R. Endrés 328 (W-R 2478!).

Notes: — Schlechter (1923) described N. turialbae without designating the holotype or herbarium where the deposit was made. It is believed that the original material was destroyed at the B herbarium during World War II (Butzin 1978, 1980). The sample deposited in the W herbarium that was collected near the type locality is designated here as a neotype.
