Type:— Andes Mountains, s. loc., March 1896, ex hort., F.C. Lehmann sub T. Lawrence s.n. (lectotype, designated here: K barcode K000586294!).

Notes: — Rolfe (1895) described N. brevis without an indication of the holotype. Material was found at K that had been collected by F. C. Lehmann at the site corresponding to the protologue and cultivated by T. Lawrence. It is believed that this was some of the original material used by the author to describe the species and, here, it is designated here as a lectotype.
