Biology and notes: The red larvae live gregariously in galled flower buds of Lathyrus pratensis and L. sylvestris ( Fabaceae). Our records are from L. pratensis . Infected flowers are swollen and remain closed. Bivoltine; pupation and hibernation in the soil. It should be noted that we did not notice any galling of the flowers in our samples, and the larvae were white to slightly yellow or pink rather than red. However, the habitus of the adults matches Lathyromyza, and the three species of Lathyromyza grouped together in the barcoding tree.
Distribution: Known only from the Czech Republic, Germany, Norway, Denmark and the Middle Volga region in Russia.
