Biology: The yellow to orange-red larvae develop gregariously in galled leaves of Alnus spp. ( Betulaceae). Our records are from A. incana . The larvae attack the bursting leaves, which then do not unfold properly and develop a small pouch at the base, in which the larvae live. Univoltine; pupation and hibernation in the soil.

Distribution: Widespread in Europe including Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
