Zelotomys woosnami (Schwann 1906)

Type Locality: S Botswana, Molopo River.

Vernacular Names: Woosnam's Zelotomys.

Distribution: A Southern African Subregion endemic ranging from N South Africa (Northern Cape Province) through N and W Botswana (Smithers, 1971) to E and N Namibia (de Graaff, 1997 f; Skinner and Smithers, 1990).

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Past taxonomic allocations (in Ochromys) have been with Aethomys, Rattus, and Thallomys (D. H. S. Davis, 1965; Ellerman, 1941; Meester et al., 1986, and references therein). Graminivorous and carnivorous, terrestrial, nocturnal, and inhabiting arid savanna biome in southern Africa (de Graaff, 1981; Mugo et al., 1995).
