Type material. Lectotype (present designation), “ Cyphon \ luteolineatum \ Sol. Chili ” [handwritten with brown ink, probably by Solier]; “9 \ 45“ [handwritten on a green, round label]; […] [illegible label, handwritten with ink]. The specimen is missing head and pronotum.

Description. Male, EL = 2.9 mm. Scutellar shield yellowish, elytra brownish-black with yellow, irregular pattern consisting of transverse, narrow bands, ventrum brown, legs yellowish. Punctures on elytra separated by 0.5–0.7 diameter of a puncture. Penis (L 0.57 mm, W 0.18 mm) relatively narrow, trigonium with two denticles and small emargination at apex, parameroids narrow, apical portion with a few setae; tegmen (L 0.59 mm, W 0.35 mm) with narrow parameres, slightly narrowing towards apex, styli present (one is missing in the lectotype), as long as parameres, densely covered with setae; tergite VIII (L 0.40 mm, W 0.31 mm) with subrectangular apical plate, densely covered with setae on apical margin, apodemes as long as apical plate; tergite IX (L 0.42 mm, W 0.32 mm) narrower than tergite VIII, apical setation absent, apodemes slightly diverging basally; sternite IX (L 0.31 mm, W 0.17 mm) with single apodeme only, apical portion damaged in the lectotype.

Remarks. The original description includes no information on the number of specimens examined by Solier. A lectotype is designated in order to preserve the stability of nomenclature by selecting one specimen as the sole, name-bearing type of the taxon.
