[ Cyphon testaceus Solier, 1849]

(Figs 2D, 3D, 8)

Pseudomicrocara livida (Fabricius, 1775) syn. nov.

Cyphon testaceum Solier, 1849: 457 (terra typica: provincias centrales de Chile)

Helodes testaceus Solier: Gemminger & von Harold 1869: 1620

Cyphon testaceum: Blackwelder 1944: 267 (checklist; Chile); Moroni 1985: 174 (Chile, Central Provinces)

Cyphon testaceus: Pic 1914: 35 (checklist; Chile)

Helodes (Cyphon) testaceus: Kolbe 1907: 71 (Southern Chile: Puerto Mont, Valdivia)

Type material. Lectotype (present designation), “ Cyphon \ testaceum \ Sol \ Chili ” [handwritten with brown ink, probably by Solier]; “9 \ 45: [handwritten on a green, round label]. The specimen is relatively well preserved (TL = 5.3 mm).

Remarks. Examination of prehensor (Fig. 8) showed that the species is a junior synonym of Pseudomicrocara livida (Fabricius), a very common species in temperate regions of South America. For description and illustrations of morphological features and male genitalia see Libonatti & Ruta (2003). The species was mistakenly omitted in the paper by Zwick et al. (2013). The original description includes no direct information on the number of speci- mens examined by Solier, but the note on distribution and habits suggest that Solier studied numerous specimens. A lectotype is designated in order to preserve the stability of nomenclature by selecting one specimen as the sole, name-bearing type of the taxon.
