(Figs 5, 14, 23)

Ethmia crocosoma Meyrick, 1914: 173 . TL: Sikkim. TD: NHMUK.

Material examined. CHINA, Xizang: 1♀, 28.VII.2018, 1♂, 9.VIII.2018, Motuo Road, Motuo County, 2076 m, leg. MJ Qi, slide Nos. ZXJ20129 ♂, ZXJ21027 ♀.

Diagnosis. Adult (Fig. 5) wingspan 24.0–35.0 mm. Ethmia crocosoma is similar to E. szabokyi Kun, 2001 in forewing pattern and genital characteristics. It can be distinguished superficially by tadpole-shaped stripe of the cell of the forewing not connected with the black spot at the basal 3/5 of the cell; in the male genitalia by the phallus lacking a tooth (Fig. 14); and in the female genitalia by the presence of a signum (Fig. 23). In E. szabokyi, the cell of the forewing has the tadpole-shaped stripe connected with the black spot at the basal 3/5 of the cell; the phallus has a small ventral tooth; and the signum is absent. (Kun 2001: 212, figs 3, 11, 12).

Distribution. China (Taiwan, Xizang), India, Nepal.

Notes. Diakonoff (1969) reported this species from Taiwan. After a comprehensive survey of museums and field work in Taiwan, Kun & Szabóky (2000) concluded that it may not exist there. We consider this species to be a new record for Mainland China.
