DISTRIBUTION: N. Great Plains in S. Alberta, S. Saskatchewan, S. Manitoba (Canada), Montana, North Dakota, N.E. South Dakota, W. Minnesota, and N.W. Iowa (U.S.A.).

COMMENT: Subgenus Spermophilus; see Hall, 1981:385. Formerly included elegans; see comment under that species.
