Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Paranthias furcifer by fasciata by Crocetta & Bariche in Crocetta et al. (2015: 697).
Distribution. Western Atlantic: Bermuda and Gulf of Mexico, eastern and southeastern Caribbean Sea and south to Brazil; central and eastern Atlantic: Ascension Island and islands of the Gulf of Guinea. Invasive at Canary Islands.
Conservation. IUCN: Global (LC: 02 November 2017). Capture and threats: Unknown. Occurrence: Very rare. Non-indigenous species, no conservation action needed .
